Webquest 5 “Spanish FLES Multimedia Library”

Your school is planning to establish a Spanish FLES program. As a part of the program, the School Advising Committee has suggested creation of multimedia library. Your school’s librarian has asked your help locating the best materials for the initial collections. All the media should be in Spanish language and contain classical or popular Spanish culture, and the formats can be CD’s, DVD’s and VHS movies. The SAC has allocated $500 for the initial collection, and will continue the funding. Could you please help creating this collection?

You have found a Mexican on-line store that sells music CD’s and movies. You will look around and choose the titles that are most interesting and educational for the program. Then, you will need to:

(1) Make a list of the titles that you haveselected ,and
(2) Write the check to place the order.

1. First, please visit the suggested sites on numbers in Spanish and refresh your knowledge on numbers in Spanish.

2. Second, please look around the on-line stores to make selections of the titles within your budget (USD $500) (Note that prices at the online stores are marked in Mexican Pesos (MXN).You may need to calculate the available money into the local currency – Mexican Pesos).

3. Third, make a list of the titles that you have selected and make a table of selection. (Click here for a sample table)
Since your librarian will fax your selection table to the vendor to place the order, you will need to include the price of each title and the total amount. The vendors agreed to send the titles without charging the shipment. So, just add the actual price.

4. Fourth, write a check for the order. You will need to write the check in the amount of local currency (Mexican Peso) and in Spanish. For example, 368.20 Pesos can be wrote as “Trescientos sesenta y ocho pesos con veinte centavos Pesos”. Please use the blank check that is provided here.

5.Submit your list of titles and check (in Peso amount) to your librarian for the order.
