WQ # 29: Plan para el año próximo (Parte 2: A ver y a sentirse)

Description

In part I, you explored a unique tradition of the country. Now, it’s time to look at the beauty of the country. Founded on the rich traditions, surrounded by the beautiful nature, and with warm-hearted people, those Spanish speaking countries are attracting more and more people to them. You will need to find out about the assets of the country and make a plan for your project. It could be places of current culture, places of national or international importance, a place to appreciate the natural treasures, a place for fun, etc. Find a list of places that your students will visit during the project and present them as a part of your project plan.

Task

You will search the Web to find information about the places to visit and make a Power Point presentation for your project plan. You will include at least 3 places to visit during the project, and give reasons why they are important to visit for your students. You will include detailed information of the places to visit and activities that your students can do during their visit. You will need to include current pictures or media resources of the places in order to provide a vivid description of the places.

Process

1. First, visit the Internet sites on the country you would like to visit for next year’s project for information. You may use the sites suggested in (A), or any other Web sites on the country.

2. Second, find out information about possible destinations for your students in the country. You may refer to the suggested sites (B) or search with Spanish search engines suggested in (C).

3. Third, among the possible destinations, decide on at least 3 interesting places to visit during the project. Find out detailed information about the destinations from the Internet. Find out information such as the name of the place, location, schedules of events, possible activities available for students, transportation, hours of operation, educational benefits of visiting the place for American students, etc. You may use the name of the place as the key word for your Internet search. When you have found the information that you want to use in your presentation, keep the source information (e.g. web site address of the document or media) for proper citation.

4. Prepare a Power Point Presentation (or any other presentation format) in Spanish about the places that your students can visit during the project. Include detailed information of the place, possible activities during the visit, educational benefits and the importance of visiting the place for American students. Include current pictures or media clips to enhance your description of the place.

5. Keep a copy of your presentation in your professional portfolio. You may show your presentation to your colleague teachers for their opinions.

Conclusion

Great plan! Your presentation is powerful enough to impress the members of the grant committee. You have presented the places so attractively, while giving the detailed information. You have clearly pointed out the benefits of the visit and have given reasons why you are trying to take the students on the trip. In fact, this really is your “field trip to Spanish speaking countries”.
