WQ #18: Trabajos ideales

Description

During last night’s dinner with your former host family, you heard that some of the family members are looking for jobs now. The son has been working for a local bank, the daughter has just graduated from a college as a business major, and their cousin has graduated from high school and is looking for a part-time job. As you are proficient in Web searching, you would like to help them with their job search by giving some advice and making suggestions.

Task

You have asked the expectations and credentials of your friends. Based on the information, you will do a search on the Internet and give some suggestions of possible positions. You will give them at least 3 suggested positions each, including the title of the position, expected hiring wage, relocation needs, requirements, and contact information of the companies.

Process

1. First, visit the suggested sites (A) on Spanish vocabulary on professions.

2. Second, examine the list of expectations and needs of your friends. Try to match the expectations during your search.

3. Third, keeping those expectations in mind, do a search on the Internet and make a list of 3 most interesting positions for each of your friends. You will need to list the title of the position, expected hiring wage, relocation needs, requirements, contact information of the companies, and the source of information (web site address). (See sample list)

4. Show the search result to your friends, and give them your suggestions. If you need, you may do further search for your friends.

5. Keep your suggestion list in your professional portfolio.

Conclusion

Your suggestions were very helpful! In addition to their own search, your suggestions added more possibilities for your friends. Marco has already sent an application to one of the places that you had suggested, while María and Juan are contacting the employers. Your friends do appreciate your timely help.
