The teacher copies Attachments 1 (Vocabulary) and 2 (Card Game). You will need enough copies for all your students.
Divide the class into groups of 4. Hand out the papers.
"Today we are going to play a card game."
"The game is called Who Are You?"
"We are going to learn the verb to be and we are going to learn the professions."
The teacher says the vocabulary words and the class repeats.
"Repeat after me…
Now each group has a scissors.
Where is the paper with the lines?
Let’s cut on the lines.
Now you each have nine cards.
We are going to need the cards of only ONE student in each group.
Class, put the rest of the cards in your backpacks, to practice at home.
Put the cards of one of the students in the group face down in a pile in the middle of the table.
One person starts.
The person takes a card and looks at the card without showing it to anyone.
This person says: Hi, Students!
The group answers: Hi! Who are you?
The person says: Guess, if you can.
Now the person has to act out the profession on the card. The group has to guess the profession. Each student has a turn.
When a student guesses correctly, the person says: Yes, I am a ____.
Now the person who guessed correctly goes.
If no one guesses, the person tells the group: No!! I am a ____. And the person shows the card to the group and continues with his/her turn."
The game ends when all the cards have been played.
