First, the teacher presents the vocabulary to the students in class. The teacher uses attachment 1 to present the vocabulary. Attachment 1 is in the list of materials for the activity. Attachment 1 has a house with the names of various parts. The teacher can make copies for the students or make a transparency for the whole class.
The teacher makes copies of attachment 2. Each student needs to have a copy of the house. The teacher cuts with scissors the houses in attachment 2.
The teacher divides the students in groups of 2. Student #1 in the group gets a copy of the house that has no parts. Student #2 gets a copy of the house that has the parts. Student #1 cannot see the drawing that student #2 has, and vice-versa.
Student #2 describes his house to student #1. Student 2 uses the expression: ³My house has______.ó Student #1 uses a pencil or crayons to draw the information that student 2 is describing. When they finish the activity, both students will compare their drawings.
This activity can be used to practice forms and shapes, colors, or the parts of the house. It depends on the grade the students are in. It is not necessary to use all the vocabulary in attachment #1.
