First, the teacher prepares
her materials: a golf ball, a tennis ball, a baseball and a football.
The teacher needs a container (tub
form) with water.
Each student needs a piece of paper
and a pencil.
Then the teacher will teach the
types of balls to the students.
It is a golf ball.
It is a tennis ball.
It is a baseball.
It is a football.
The teacher gives each student a piece
of paper. The students draw a line representing water across the paper
and write "float" above the line and "does not float" below the line.
The teacher will ask the students
if they think the ball will sink or float.
She will ask the same question for each different ball.
The students will write and or draw
that different types of balls and if they sink or float.
The teacher will continue this process
until all the balls have identified.
At the end of the activity the teacher
will have some of the students to place the balls in the water and
see which of they float.
