Description: Now that you understand the rationale
behind task-based instruction it is time for you to use the Internet
in order to develop
a task-based activity in Spanish for your students.
Task: You are
to design a task for your students, which will require them to
use Spanish to complete the task. It can be anything from
a craft project to a skit but they must use Spanish and you must
complete every step of the process.
Process: First, visit the websites
listed which give examples of task-based activities for foreign
language. Decide on a task that
will be age-appropriate and interesting for your students. It
should include some cultural aspect as well. Use the evaluation included
to make sure that you have included all the necessary components.
Task: Give your activity a title
Grade Level: K-5
Objective: What do you want the students to learn?
Materials required: Include all materials you will need to complete
the task.
Step-by-step instructions: List each step. Try to write as many directions
in Spanish as you can.
Assessment: How will you know that you have reached your objective?
Reflection: How did the students do? What would you change for next
time?

Conclusion:
How did your students do? Were you able to incorporate Spanish in
the directions and in the task? Did they enjoy the activity and
learn something new?
Evaluation: ¿Sí o no? For each ‘sí’ give
yourself ONE point. If it’s in Spanish, give yourself DOS!
Score yourself!
